you can have a directory list, apache does this automatically if you remove the index file.

Apache will work in a Workgroup and a Domain. I have apache setup on my laptop and I can use it at home with my workgroup or at work which is a domain. It really does not matter as all you need to know is the IP address or, the network name if it is on the same workgroup.

In XP you can find (and change) by right clicking on my computer, properties and in the “computer name” tab you will see full computer name.

Did you follow this video or have you tried someone elses before this? If so uninstall apache, and in the program files delete the Apache software foundation folder.

in vista I think you need to run it in administrative mode ( I do not have vista so I cant say how to do it).

Also remember to type “localhost” into Network domain and server name, also a email address. Remember to note down any errors that appear in the black command boxes. If you get errors apache does not usually start.

It is up to you there wont be much difference. One has OpenSSL and the other does not. This video does not need that facility.

you should only realy get an error if something is ether blocking or using port 80. skype does not unless you have set it to use port 80. Another error that can be shown is that the email address is not a true email address.
