Haha, yeah that’s the weird thing. When comparing memory usage, both players seem fairly comparable, but that number can be a little misleading. I can’t remember what it’s called, but it has to do it using Java to run. It reminds me of when I tried out aTunes, which also uses Java to run. When I checked Ubuntu’s System Monitor, it said it was using about 60MB, but when I checked how much resources it was taking up using an option within aTunes, it was really using about 100MB.
Nice, But I use Sabayon Linux now, It’s nice, maintained in Italy and I’m sure they have developers around the world as well, Has NVIDIA / ATA drivers built-it and my wireless broadcom card worked without drivers. Sabayon andare! (Go Sabayon!). It’s the first linux distro I ever installed that EVERYTHING worked!
I like Mint, just don’t like how they did the menu’s on it, should stick with just regular Gnome menu’s. I’m messing with Ubuntu as of now and enjoying it, but installing Windows apps or games in Wine is just frustrating without Cedega or Crossover. PlayonLinux program helps out some, but still a pain in the arse. Songbird app is a great iTunes or Winamp replacement in Linux if anyone cares.

Songbird is really awesome! I stick with Rhythmbox though because it’s lighter on the resources and I only have 256MB of RAM xDDD
